I was just looking at my camera the other day and noticed one of the screws on the bottom is was missing. It's strange because I noticed one was loose a few months ago and I tightened all of them. It was one of the screws on the front of the body near the lens mount. Anyway has this happened to anyone before? I wonder if I could get it from radio shack or something. Don't feel like sending it in to Canon for a missing screw.

maybe it's a good idea to take one out and then take it to RadioShack to see if they have a screw that will fit.

That's what I was thinking. I was actually thinking ontaking one out of my 40D since I
don't really use it anyway.

You can also call one of the factory service centers and order a set of screws for a couple bucks that are designed for the lens mount

you could probably get the screw from canon if you know the part number.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

I dont know about radio shack having screws of that size, and if they did, they probably wouldnt be too cheap. But I dont know..
I have always purchased these types of things at ACE Hardware..they have everything.
You will easily find the size and type you need, but you may have to use a sharpie to color it black(assuming your 5D is black..)...if you cant find one in black, most things are either zinc plated,SS,or hardened steel...

Good luck!!

Usually it's the loose nut behind the camera that's the problem... ;)

Hope Canon can hook you up.

You can try a watch-repairman. Saved me once in the back-of-beyond far from any camera repair shop. The two screws still hold fine after 25 years.
