The greatest Maritime Patrol aircraft ever built, the "Lockheed Neptune". This one is in the hands of a private museum in Australia(HARS). Previously flown by 10 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force.

Mighty big call Macca considering the length of time the P3 has been in service and will be until 2018 minimum.

Great shots! Here in the states we see plenty of them but all cut up for fire-bombing. Great to see one in original configuration.

I spend too much on flying to have much equipment worth listing!

I thought the P8 is replacing the P3? I see a P8 test mule (737) flying around sometimes.

. . . nice captures, the 'Neptune' also saw service in the RCAF way back when, and most of them
ended up as fire fighters too !;)

That must mean they are a great plane then! Fighting fires is tough on those old birds. Here in Colorado we had a DC-3 crash two seasons ago and that left the rest of the fire fighting fleet grounded until every one of the fleet was checked out thoroughly by the FAA. The plane went down because of lack of maintainance. Pretty sad actually.
