Thats great, I have some car shows coming up over the next few weeks and am looking forward to giving this lens a try at them.

If anyone has any car show examples with this lens I'd love to see some to see how it looks.

Joined the club as of last night. Loving it so far. Just been testing it around the house; nothing worth posting though..

P.S. - Those w/ the Canon version, how accurate was/is your focus ring? I've been reading that the markings weren't very accurate and the ring could possibly use an adjustment. I haven't tested this on mine yet..

Considering how much depth of field this lens has, I think it would be pretty hard to determine how accurate the barrel markings are. I mean, you only have to get it "ballpark" anyway, and a lot of people just set it at infinity and forget about it with f8 or smaller aperture. Myself, I try to fine tune it some (there's a chart a few pages back in this thread, concerning using hyperfocal method), but I don't think I've ever taken a picture which was out of focus with it.

I just pulled the pin on this, eagerly awaiting my parcel. I sometimes wish I never joined POTN, the examples on these damn lens sample threads are making me buy what I really don't need, but can't say no to!

@joe

Mine was a LONG way out. I thought it was faulty at first and even stopping right down I couldn't get anything in the room in focus. After some testing I discovered that infinity focus was at around 1.5 feet on the scale! The lens couldn't physically focus any further back than about ten feet so even stopped down close up shots were out of focus. Also when I set it to infinity it was blurry as I think is was going so far past infinity. So I had to adjust it to get it working indoors!

After setting the lens to infinity and then adjusting the ring to the correct infinity marking it gave me back all the close focus range and now at f8 - f11 I can set a rough distance on the scale and all seems well and infinity really is infinity, which is nice. I think most are not this bad though from reading other comments.

If you do need to adjust it you will need a VERY small screwdriver though!

Wow! That's interesting, Matt. I didn't know they could be that far off. Yikes! I'm glad you made your post.

Thank you to the both of you for posting! I checked mine and it seems to be okay. It's just off by very little, and that's minor. I don't think I need to operate on my copy. =)
