Tried this lens out on a visit to the Harry Potter Studio Tour, very hard to keep elbows and feet out of the shot! Liking this lens a lot now.

Well, it certainly is different (and about $60 0r $70 more expensive). It looks somewhat similar, but the rings and writing are different, and the colored band is red instead of gold, and at the back of the lens instead of the front. So, in other words, cosmetically it is quite different.

Odd that it still has the "built-in" lenshood, however. There are other "new" models that have a removable one (forget the brand - look at earlier posts in this thread).

I wonder what it adds to the table for the extra money. It's not really apparent to me.

That one looks to be made for video recording, hence the de-click aperture ring and the toothed focus ring. It is still for APS-C cameras and optically should be the about same quality.

The Opteka has the removable hood but the original batch they sent out seem to have a host of build quality issues. They have since developed a new model for Canon that seems to be less prone to problems.

This lens is pretty sweet! No one warned me that after playing with a fisheye all day, that normal perceptive would appear odd.

That's funny.
I remember when I first bought my fisheye, I took it out for a walk for about 5 hours. Took around 1000 shots.
When I returned home something interesting happened on several occasions. My brains got confused for a fraction of a second with a non-distorted perspective looking not through the viewfinder, but simply through my eyes :)
