you're saying this lens is soft? have you calibrated yours? just making sure most people i've come across who think this lens is soft at ANY focal distance has yet to calibrate it.

I almost got rid of mine before I fortunately came across others with this issue and the super easy calibration fix!

first of all, its a fixed focal lense.

second of all, you cant callibrate the softness at 3.5, which is very soft, only at 5.6 and upwards this lens gets massively sharp!

Three from a trip to Singapore, last pictures with lens now i've sold my 40D. Fun lens even though I didn't use it much and has made me consider picking up a used Canon 15mm fisheye as some point if one comes along at the right price.

Hopefully the Canon will be more useable near wide open.

Good day folks. Just picked up this lens recently. I had been complaining about not having a lens wide enough to capture the northern lights adequately. Well that shouldn't be a problem anymore. Super duper excited. Hope you like my first share. We had clear skies so I went for a drive to test it out.

Well it was an early birthday gift from the rents... but I got one. The opteka version.

Does anyone have a link to the focus test I can do on this? I'm new to manual lenses and I basically just want to set it and forget it. I've been playing around and it seems f11 is my best stop, but what about the focus ring?

This lens is fun and so easy to use!

Just got my lens Saturday and played with it to see what's up then found out f/5.6 and up is much sharper! Was shooting at f/3.5 and can't figure out what was going on!

Off subject here, but what kind of mouse is that and do you like it? And why?

We are looking at the desk of a hardcore first person shooter gamer .

I used to have to make 2 huge frantic sweeps of the mouse just to do a 180 turn... I know some people who we'd to have to do 4 sweeps....

Counterstrike was..is...an incredible game

On mine I set the aperture to f8 and the focus just shy of infinity and everything in the image is sharp. If light is a problem, f5.6 still works. Once you get below f5.6, though, the sharpness tends to fade a bit. At least on mine.
