I like it and will use it for other shots in the future sometimes, but for this one, the vertical sign on the left got bent, so I cropped it a little and rotated it to make it more vertical (used 31/200 distortion...default was around 100). At 100 it looked completely defished except for the sign that was at a 45 degree angle and the rock on the upper left was a little stretched out. I think the before is better, but still I like your defishing method :D For a lot of applications I think it will work just as good if not better than my 10-20mm wide angle. Here's one from the 10-20 that could have been wider using the defished 8mm :)

I'm ready to buy this lens but I need to know if all versions of it come with AF confirm? I'd like to get it and have it ready to shoot with out of the box, I can't seem to find any solid info on this. I'm looking at the Bower version, will I have to get an AF chip with it, or will one come attached?

Dont be worried about lack of AF...

Best picture quality is at F8, at which point the depth of field is from about 30cm to infinity.

It's not something you need to worry about, just set focus to infinity and leave it there for everything.

Some people dont like this, as they are used to small depth of field for their pictures with other lenses. However it can make for unique looking pictures on account of this if you learn to work with it, like having very close up foreground items and far away scenery all in focus in the shot.

^I was more worried about the metering, but I read through a lot of this thread and saw that metering isn't an issue so I placed my order :)

Adorama had the Bower version for $230 so I ordered it with 2 day shipping, I can't wait for it to arrive! :D

Aahh okay I see...

I always find liveview preferable with this lense (even if not using Magic Lantern) especially so with the flippy outy screen on the 600D, lets you try a few different angles which would otherwise be rather awkward.

In which case the metering works differently anyway?

Assuming you also find it's good to use it that way too.

Only the Nikon version comes with the AF chip I think. My Samyang one for Canon has no electronics what so ever.

^Got ya, I might pick up the chip for it later if I decide I need it, for now I'll just be looking forward to playing with the lens! :)

I would've gotten the T3i or T4i if I had planned on keeping this camera as my main camera for a long time, but I bought it as a temporary solution while I save for a full frame camera. The deal I found on the 550d was too good to pass up, and so was this lens ;)

Got my Bower version of this lens today! Here's the first shot I took with it. Wide open and focusing through the viewfinder (which I realized right after was not the best way to focus this lens... lol)

I'm already loving this lens, took it on a shoot tonight and had a blast with it. I'll post up the results tomorrow ;)

Here are a few more from last night. I used the lightroom profile for the Canon 15mm 2.8 to defish them slightly since at the edges of the frame the street lights on the bridge looked like they were bending over the side. Each exposure was at least 40 seconds between F8-11 and I swear they seemed noisier than with other lenses for some reason, just something I'll have to keep in mind next time I do some long exposures with it. I love this lens already :)

Those are awesome, Aressem. I love how much punch that first shot has.
