Okay well another thing to remember...

With such a wide angle lense, focusing at 1 meter doesnt mean 1 meter in front of you, as in a wall in front of you is going to be completely in focus from end to end.

It means 1 meter around you circular, and moving outwards like that.

So something you intend to be in focus, only a small part of it might be in that arc.

Personally, I can't stand mine a f/3.5. I don't have any examples, but I need to turn it to 5.6 to get anything I am happy with.

Recently bought this lens from B&H over new years when I was visiting in New York.

Haven't had much time to play with it, but I'm beginning to learn to ways of the fisheye...

One of my first shots with the lens, pretty stoked!

Trying out some landscape photography with it. I must confess, the following two images are pretty average (at least in my opinion) but this day wasn't the best day for it – overcast, then sunny, windy, rainy etc. These two images are also HDR – I wanted to see how the lens would stack up in this department.

I took this back in November. Wife said to park in front of the door to block some of the snow. I told her "I don't think it works like that dear". Did it anyway.

I decided to keep my 8mm. I found it to be too useful in a variety of situations, and the flaring isn't as bad as I had previously thought :)

I don't think this lens deserves the bad reputation it gets for flare. I've used it in some pretty high contrast, direct sunlight situations:

wandering around my old hometown, direct into the sun midday:

trackday, too fast into the corner!

This is the worst flare I've gotten as yet, out on a walkabout at sunset:

^Shooting directly into the sun it's fantastic, the problems I was having were when the sun was either out of the frame or on the edge of the frame. Now that I know about this fault though, I can shoot around it ;)
