Whats the difference between the EF and the IF? Some are using the same model as your's, which is an older model (gold colored band) with the fixed hood. The newer model (red colored band. HD8M-C) has a removable hood where this is mainly designed for full frame sensors as to lessen vignetting. It also costs more, on average. Newer model still functions great on a crop sensor.

May 31, 2014 20:21 | #1453 You should use the Hyperfocal: Randoo53 wrote in post #16941405 Hello folks. I'm new to this thread and forums. I just received my Rokinon 8mm (HD8M-C) today and proceeded to take a few sample shots of some scenery. I started out with f8 (in AV mode) and set the focus to infinity as the scenery was actually across the lake. (it was sunny so my speed was way up there, like 1/3200 or so) I got nothing but soft images. What I am seeing on this thread are nothing but tack sharp images. I did some Googling before coming here and read that those lens may not be factory calibrated. Might this be the case? I find it hard to believe that they would send out non-calibrated lens in this day and age. Thanks in advance for any possible help you could provide. I hope this is something easily correctable before having to send it back (to B&H). www.riobiobio.cl

-MountainDog- Senior Member More info | Jun 01, 2014 19:08 | #1454 I bought the Opteka 6.5mm Fisheye a few months ago and finally got around to calibrating the focus on it. I did a series of test shots and found that when the focus was set to 1.2ft my subject 10ft away was in focus. The main reason I calibrated the focus was because when I set the focus to 1ft my actual minimum focus was 2-3 feet away. I hoped that adjusting the focus would give me a better minimum focus distance. This is important because the fun fisheye effect gets more exaggerated the closer the subject is. Also, I would be able to accurately use hyper focal distance calculations.
