I got lucky with this guy. I went for a drive trying to calm down after an emotional breakdown caused by my miscarriage back in July. I needed something to cheer me up. I was driving up a road towards the mountain and spotted this guy out of the corner of my eye landing on a fence post not 8 feet from the road. I pulled over (with my car half way in the road) and rolled down the passenger side window and shot through my car for the frontal shot of him in case he flew off before I could get parked. I then drove a bit further up the road and pulled over in a place that actually had a shoulder and walked back to where he was. I was lucky he was still there. The flight pictures were captured from across the street. The lighting sucked, as clouds were coming and going thanks to a rainstorm coming in. I had my settings for cloudy lighting, but by the time I had started shooting pictures, the sun came back out and over exposed everything. Thankfully my ISO was still down low.

Sorry to hear of your tale, but what a lovely treat this must've brought you, a great experience :)

Nice shots too, and I just love that stare in the second shot, looks like he noticed you :)

Excellent shots. Sorry for your misfortune, a family tragedy in 2005 led me to this hobby as well and has brought me a lot of comfort, best wishes.

Sorry to hear of your loss, similar experience with our son and daughter in law. Couple of great shots I love the stare he's giving you.

After this, I just felt so light. All I could think was "God really knows how to cheer me up".

Thanks! I do feel better, but you know how mourning goes, some days are better than others. That day started bad, but got better.

Thanks so much! It really did feel like he was just as curious about me as I was about him.

There's something about being out in nature that is comforting. Now I have a camera to catch this stuff so I'll always remember it.
