64GB translates to about 2200 to 2400 full resolution raw files exposed on an 5D2, or about 67 ROLLS of 135-36 film. That is a heck of a lot of "film" to be shooting on a 2 week vacation, and would have set you back about $1100 to $1200 for cost of the film and processing back in the old days.

And with HD Video available on the camera's now, it's not hard to chew up memory. So it's better to be safe than sorry.
