I have a pretty good dual core system with plenty of hardive space, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice about how to or what not to do, before I put this this new CS4 extended cd into D drive. ?

Not understanding what your concerns are, but before installing any major application...

- Defrag your system and clean up crap like temp files. I use CCleaner for cleanups.
- Create a restore point and reboot.

It's becasue I've read several people having problems installing CS4 and making it funtion. I just like to use the site so I can do pc work or buy an item, with the best knowledge and advice available.
Ex: This week I'm going to find and buy a 17-55 2.8 IS for my 40D, based a lot on what I've read here. Sites like this are life(and money)savers for folks needing expensive gear.
I ran cclean and Auslogics defrag last week, but I'll do it again before installing this program.

Make sure your anti-virus software is NOT running before installing any Adobe software. If you are using trial software, make sure it is completely uninstalled.

You might try the Adobe Users Forum for Photoshop Windows:

They have FAQs, bug reports, and an active discussion stream with a lot of Q&A happening all the time, and should have a lot of info.

I just installed CS4 extended yesterday. No issues. I didn't even disable Norton Antivirus, although it's recommended that you do so.

You may think the install wizard has hung, but don't panic. It can sit for several minutes chewing its cud with no change in the display window.

Installed CS4 Ext. a few hrs ago, no problems.
Always feels nice to have something new.
Next task is to transfer my brain from CS3.
Thanks for the video drivers advice.
The card is NVIDEA GeForce 8400 G5.
Not new or great, but it handles any photos or graphics I work with.
