I apologize if this has already been posted. I see Adorama now has the Sigma 50-500 OS listed. The price is 1599.00.

I'm really interested to see how this lens works out. It is much better than the 150-500? I'm looking for just a bit more reach.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Wow, that's a pretty steep price, much more than what I expected. I guess I don't feel bad holding on to my Bigmos.

What do you all make of this comment at the bottom of the description?

"It is not possible to use a Polarizing filter with the step down ring. If you attach a Polarizing filter, you may not be able to remove it from the lens again."

Wow.. 700 more than I spent last month for my 150-500 OS. Makes me feel good about my purchase!

I'm not sure why this was moved to the Market watch section. I posted it in the lens section because of the ongoing discussion there about the anouncement of this lens and speculation about what the cost of this lens would be. I think an explanation is in order.

the title of the thread is about a lens available at a website...it's exactly where it belongs...you could always just post the link in those other threads discussing the lens

That is a steep price IMO. Much more expensive than the price I was expecting ($1.100 to $1.250 range). If that is the case, I will be more inclined to get the Canon 100-400 than the Sigma. However, no final decision can be made before having seen some pictures and hearing about the experience of some folks out there. So, I will be waiting for some feedback regarding the Sigma. Although, I have to confess that I have my eyes on the Canon 400mm prime. I know, no IS and a slow aperture, but I have seen some outstanding shots with this lens.

Seems about right if the quality is there. Remember the 150-500 is not an EX grade lens like the 50-500. Pro level lens + more range = higher price.

the 50-500mm OS is not an EX grade lens either...they only give EX to constant aperture lenses now...i don't know if the build will be much different from the bigmos

i don't know...the price seems high to me right now(at least higher than what i want to pay :))...but who knows what it will settle to
