I don't like the price of this either. I'll just dial up the shutter speed and ISO on a much cheaper lens. ;)

the 50-500mm OS is not an EX grade lens either...they only give EX to constant aperture lenses now...i don't know if the build will be much different from the bigmos

i don't know...the price seems high to me right now(at least higher than what i want to pay :))...but who knows what it will settle to

INteresting. Just re-read the press release, and you are right, no mention of EX designation. THe old one definitely was:

Also note that the MSRP is $1450 for the non-OS bigma, so the $1599, may just be the MSRP of the new one. We know that the old bigma sells for under $1100, so I am sure that the new one will not be able to hold a $1599 price for long.

yeah, i think sigma changed the way they designate EX lenses before the bigmos came out...now it's just the constant aperture lenses...either way i still think it'll be an improvement over the bigma, so it's just a name thing...also the MSRP of the bigmos is $1479, and that goes for $900 or so

i'm still thinking bigmos is the lens for me...i shouldn't even be looking at the bigma II threads, it'll just complicate things for me...haha :)
