Only kidding...but here's a teaser of what I found in the park next door 20 minutes ago. Got to dash out shopping, but there's more coming from that little hole, I can tell you!!!

These fellas were about 1.5mm long (the little ones, which you'll see more of later) and 3mm for the big 'uns!
EXIF:
EOS30D plus 100mm macro (non-IS) plus Kenko extension tubes totalling 68mm
RAW, processed through LightRoom and resized in FastStone
ISO100
f/5
1/100s
Full manual, plus full manual flash through ma big ol' home-made snoot!

More later....
:D

I can't tell you guys how much I'm loving this macro stuff now that I can capture shots like this!
It's tremendous.

Oh and btw, I used 2 teaspoons of sugar, dissolved in a little warm water trickled along the edge of the wall to get these guys to pose...which you'll see more of in a minute...

Lovely series of shots- you are obviously having a lot of fun !
Assume the larger ants are "soldiers" with the smaller ones being workers.

Thanks Brian.

Well, I overheard these two.....
The one of the left said, "Any thoughts on the new recruits, Sergeant Major?"
And then, the other one said, "Idiots, sir!!! The lot of 'em!!!!!"

So I'd guess the big ones are complainants, but I'm not so sure about the little ones....
;)

btw, this last shot is 4 stacked together, using CombineZP and the GIMP.
Twas a real pain, as the ants don't actually sit still much!!!!

Thanks Kurt!
:D

Above is the last one...I think...though I'll have a peek at the folder to see if there's any other shots worth putting up.

And here's the last shot....didn't quite get his eye in focus, but it shows his body pretty well. And now that it's raining VERY heavily (yet again, this week!), I guess the little chaps are all down below again.

Cheers for now...and I expect you can see more from me and my snoot next week.
:D
