EOS Utility how to set it to NOT download photos

I've searched for this and played around with the software itself but haven't found it anywhere.

Does anyone know how to configure or setup the EOS utility to not download the images immediately? I remember back when I messed around with it when I got my 10D you had to tell the software to download the images immediately after capture. Now I can't seem to find a way to tell the software not to download the images.

I want to capture ~250 shots at 30 seconds with my new 7D, but if I shoot RAW (which I want to do) I have to set the timer to delay 4-5+ seconds between shots to wait for the image to copy over to the HP mini netbook before it can take the next shot.

If I set the interval less than 4 or 5 seconds then shots fail and I will get gaps in between captures.

My goal is to take star trails with the netbook/EOS utility/7D combo and minimize the time between captures so that the trails are not choppy or jerky.

Any ideas? I don't want to spend $130 on DSLR pro (don't know all of it's features), and I don't have any other accessories to control the camera with except the software on the computer.

You are referring to tethered shooting?

I don't think you can. Also, I think it's not an Eos Utility problem: You are simply running into the buffer when shooting 250 shots in 30 seconds.

Ya I'm talking about tethered shooting.

I want to take 250, 30 second exposures. The problem is it takes longer than a few seconds to transfer the recently taken image to the netbook. By the time the shot is transferred the next shot fails...

Transfer speed should not matter. (at least for the first few shots, until the buffer is full)
I can shoot 10fps tethered with my 1D3. No way that the first image is transferred when the second is taken

Long exposure NR might be an issue as well.

No experience with interval shots (You use Eos Utility for that?), but what happens if you press the release button on the camera? Does it allow faster shooting?
