My 7D gives ERR messages in the cold ( mid to high thirties F ) then it goes dead. I sent it back to Canon twice. They said they could not duplicate the problem ( they tried it when the temperature was in the forties ) my previous 20D, 30D 40D and 50D cameras were all used in temperatures well below zero with no problems. I want the camera replaced because I have seen the 7D used in temperatures well below zero with no problems. Canon is acting like nothing is wrong. I need something to show them so please let me know the low temps that you have used your 7D in.

It hasn't been a really cold winter here so the coldest is probably somewhere between 10 and 20f. I have had my XTi and 40D out in much colder weather (-20f). Both cameras functioned ok. I had no issues with the XTi and the 40D, though still taking pics without issue, lost the rear LCD within the first 30 minutes or so.

This (external link)guy doesn't have any issues. I would be asking for a replacement.

Wind chill does not affect a camera. Wind chill is a made up number assuming your nekid at the top of the mountain. :)

I had my 7D out in -10 degrees F to take to the Giants @ Vikings game on Jan 3, 2010. No problems, no slowdowns, Canon's cameras are built to work.

True, but there's still something to be said for replacing the warmer air around a heat source with cooler air from the surrounding area. Can't make the camera colder than ambient but it will get the camera down to ambient faster and keep it there longer.

I've had my 7D out when the temps were around 15F and had no problems.

Send it to Canon of Irvine...they will make it right because its obviously not~

Ive heard some of the other locations can be less than stellar in their customer service departments. They have always treated me right at Irvine and bent over backwards to make me happy.
