Where can I find a simple cable release for Canon cameras? Something like the following:

http://www.lensmateonline.com/store/cableRelease40cm.php (external link)

I assume I need to buy this:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …able_Release_Adapter.html (external link)

To make any older type work?

What camera do you have? Those mechanical cable releases don't work with most modern cameras.

You need a wired remote shutter release today that has the right connection for your camera.

Another option is a wireless shutter release.

Well, it depends on which camera you have. If you have a Can T90, EOS 650, 620, 750, 850, 630, 1, RT, A2, A2e, 1N or 1N-RS, it would work. But those are old film cameras that had a very specific connector.

Which camera do you have?

Sorry, I have a 1DM3. Looking at B&H my camera is not listed for this model but will it work?

Canon Digital SLR's have two types of connectors. The link you showed is for the REBEL type. You need the N3 plug that fits all the larger DSLR's. It can be either a wired, or wireless type of shutter release.

For $50 you can get a wireless remote that will also operate as a wired remote: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …eless_Remote_Shutter.html (external link)

It is the same as the Phottix Cleon that I use with my 7D: http://cgi.ebay.ca …ss_RL?hash=item439dc28bdd (external link)

That is a good looking remote. I like the wired aspect to it as well.
