Congrats on the camera! Must be frustrating to have the camera only to realize you have the wrong type of memory card.
As for some tips; start reading the manual, take test shots and there is also a wealth of information on this board. Try to get away from full auto as soon as you can. Here is a link to get you started:

I have one 50D, just sold one of the 20Ds to get a second one. It is a great camera. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. I can take a picture of a deer or coyote, crop a bunch out of it and still have a very good picture. I do not want a camera for stills that takes video, just something else to go wrong with it in my opinion.

Please speak slowly and distinctly. I have a wife and a computer, I don't need any more confusion in my life.

50D, I love mine, Grats on yours, Get some good fast glass and go shoot some sports or anything else for that matter. RTFM,RTFM,RTFM, Back button focus and al servo, did I say read the manual and wear the shutter out( shooting pics ) and the rule is you have to post pics or we don't believe.

Hi Joser ...

I strongly suggest that you go to:

  1. C.Fn II in your menu and
  2. Disable the Auto Lighting Optimizer as well as
  3. Disable Highlight Tone Priority.
