Elinchrom Users and Tinkerers: Look What Can Now Be Ordered From B&H

Not too long ago a few of us here fabricated some DIY Elinchrom mounts for Speedlight's and hot shoe flashes for the purpose of using Elinchrom modifiers and accessories with those flashes.

The mount was based on the Elinchrom bayonet reflector support and except for the lack of a locking mechanism (which can be ordered) it worked really well.

The intended purpose for those reflector supports is to mount them to a wall, door, etc. and it gives you a neat and organized way to store your reflectors and accessories and it also makes them very easy to access.

SO....... at the time we were doing those DIY's we were unable to order them from BogenImaging and they were hard to get in the US. Dave (tetrode) was able to get a set (of which I snagged one, lol) and I believe they could be ordered from Vistek in Canada but could not be shipped to the US.

Well, it seems that the set of supports is now available at B&H, although it does have to be ordered, and that means it's coming from BogenImaging.

For those interested and for those that care and for those that have no idea of what I'm talking about and are curious :D, here you go:

BUT.... look at the price. A little expensive for what you're actually getting but in the scheme of things, $13.75 a piece isn't that bad, I guess. :D

Certainly interesting for those wanting to mount to say - a wall. We live in a loft and most of my stuff lives in a large Pelican case currently. But it'd be nice in our dedicated shooting area to have something to hang them up in the high ceiling.

Though the cheap side of me says why not just use a coat-hanger and a rope and keep them up there instead.

Decisions...

Hey Brendan,

Bottom line is that it would be easy to create a wall hanger of sorts or use peg board and it would be dirt cheap and have the ability to hold a large number of reflectors and accessories.

But then there is a part of you that says "hey, that's pretty cool" when we see the bayonet mounts. I can certainly think of better ways to spend $55 but then again I've been known to pi$$ away money on far less important or needed things.

I do like the idea though.

This is certainly true. I'm a master at it.

Truly an extravagant and silly way to hang reflectors BUT remember why we wanted them:

And with the Bogen-sourced locking ring:

Dave, are you saying that you can buy a locking ring (I'm assuming it's a replacement part for the Eli strobes) and it'll easily fit on that wall-mount adapter? Where do you buy them? Directly from Bogen Imaging?

Is that adapter made of metal?

Thanks.

You buy the mount and then the locking mechanism is available as another part. Both the mount and locking ring and plastic.

One other thing: Believe it or not, the locking ring does not come with the little metal pin that does the actual locking. That has a separate part number. The complete assembly, then, consists of the reflector mount, the outer locking collar and the all important locking pin.

Thanks, Dave. And all these (except the adapter) have to be ordered from Bogen Imaging, I suppose?

Hey Dave,

Who could forget why we really wanted the mounts?
