So I met the guy today who`s selling his mint 5Dc. I was blown away how mint the body is. Seems like it`s brand new, but when I did the "sensor test @ f22 using the 17-40L that he brought with, this is what it shows on the pic.
17-40L @ f22

50mm f1.4 I noticed this long band on the right side (sky side) but not sure if it`s from his 50mm lens. I have a feeling it could be a light post bokeh

Can this be cleaned? The guy said, he never attempted to clean the sensor before and he almost send the body for 5D mirror recall. He said most of the time, when you send for mirror recall fix, they will also clean your sensor. What do you guys think?

Here are the actual body pics. no scratches/scuff etc...

I'd assume a nice wet sensor clean would take care of that. I haven't taken any shots with an aperture smaller than f/11 on mine (just bought this mint 5d a few weeks ago) and I could already make out a few dust specs.

Just dust on the sensor. You can try blowing it clean with a blower (like a Giotto rocket), or do a wet clean. At worst you can send it to Canon and have them clean it for you.

Or don't worry about it and just clone the dust out when you shoot f8 or over.

That does look like an out-of-focus lamppost.

To be honest, that sensor is immaculate compared to what most camera's have on them. Grab it and run.

That feels better! I have no idea what to really look for when I did the test shots. I know the procedure, by reading info here. But to see if the sensor has scratches, my eyes are still virign for that. All I was looking for is a very obvious long bands or lines.... It was really funny to meet at BESTBUY parking lot then opening my car hatch and switched lenses and pulling out my laptop and card reader, taking empty blue sky pics. You know the feeling. I just hate Craigslist sales meeting. LOL!

There is no dust on that sensor! :D

Believe, that is nothing and it takes about 5 seconds to remove. And hoe often do you use f22? I got a decent amount of dust, but when the camera is used at f8 or below, i never need to remove dust.

Looks like a great deal :)

Now I can sleep better tonight after spending my retirement money on a used Canon body! LOL! If I don`t wake up, I guess I `ll die happy! :-)
