Wish I could help you out.

Want to make sure of two things
1. The "CAMERA/OFF/PLAY(VCR)" is in the PLAY(VCR) position
2. The TAPE/CARD switch is in the 'tape' position

If bot of those are selected, and the capture is not working, I don't know what else to say.

damn... thanks a lot anyways for trying to help me. I'm pretty sure it has to be some driver/software issue.

Is the IEEE1394 Host Controller visible in Device Manager? IEEE1394 is another name for FireWire (or iLink from Sony).

I've not used Windows since XP, so I don't know if they even have device manager anymore.

Yup there is... I am getting pissed off because I installed everything that came with the CD on my Fire wire port, Checked for updates on my windows and updated everything, disabled and enabled my firewire ports and checked canons website for software/drivers

I think I figured out what the problem is. I researched more online and I found out that the firewire support in Windows 7 is not good and has problems with the connectivity of firewires so maybe that is why there is so hassle and problems going on with my issue. I tried setting the firewire setting into LEGACY mode but that is also ineffective....
