My wife's niece came over today, and I asked her if I could shoot a few shots of her ring(s). I used a fake flower, and it shows, but I had to make due with what was on hand, and didn't have a lot of time to play with the ring(s) (didn't have time to clean the flower either).

Shot with a 40D and Sigma 180mm f/3.5 macro. Tell me what you think...

And a few I ran through FotoSketcher...

The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked - Photographers shoot to thrill, not to kill

To tell the truth, I perfer the PhotoScetched images better than the dirty, fake flowers. Nice idea placing the rings in a flower, but a real flower would have looked so, so much better. Nice idea, just not the best execution.

Thanks. I had to make due, and didn't have a lot of time. I didn't notice how bad the flower was until I put the images on the computer, and by that time she was on her way out the door. And, the only real flowers we have in the house right now are miniature roses, and the rings wouldn't have fit into those.

I like the FotoSketcher ones too, because they look great, and it's easy to process out the dirt and stuff.

As a "preliminary" shoot to lead me to another shoot that's better planned and has better props, these didn't come out too bad. It's hard to keep a fake flower clean, and it's equally as hard to make a fake flower look real.

Thanks for the input.
