What lenght of plate do you prefer? The tripot mount base is just short of 60mm, how much longer should the plate be?

The positioning in the clamp depends upon your camera body, hood, zoom & focus position, teleconverter, etc. Canon 6D, 1DmkII, IR modified 5DII with lots of Canon L, TSE and Zeiss ZE lenses
