5d2 LCD replacement

Anyone know about how much it costs? I just dropped my camera and the LCD cracked. Everything else seems to work fine.

I feel for you, it must have been sickening to drop your camera.

If you replace the screen and the cover (don't forget the adhesive frame) it shouldn't be too expensive. That's if you're handy with opening up your camera. It's not that tough at all.

Is the display cracked, or just the cover?

You can fit a new cover yourself.

If it's just the cover you can figure on about 20 bucks. Get the adhesive frame / tape also.

Had to replace one out of my Mark 3 and the 30D due to cracked screen covers. About 10 minutes if you take the camera apart, or a minute or so if the screen is friendly to you.

LCD cover is fine. In fact, the whole body doesn't even have a dent or scratch, but the LCD panel inside is not...Just trying to figure out if it is worth my time to try and buy a part from the US and switch it out myself. I'm in Taiwan, btw.

It may have knocked the ribbon connector loose inside. It happens. Open it up and take a look. Or just reseat the ribbon cable.

But if the LCD is cracked internally, there should be some fluid that is visible coming out of the damaged area.

If the outer lcd cover is fine, but the lcd is cracked under it, that is a bit confusing and unexpected. The only way I could envision that is if the cover flexed enough to put pressure on the LCD under it, but that would be pretty tough to do. Yikes!

Well, got it fixed for a lot less than what I expected, but it was still around $100. I was ready to order the part in the US if it turned out to be any more than that. One thing though...I'm a little disappointed that Canon Service left a scratch on my LCD cover. I know it wasn't there before, but it's not like I had any photos showing that there were no scratches to begin with...plus didn't see it when I picked up the camera...sucks.
