Newer cameras not working with older CS's. Forcing people to buy the upgrade.

Are you serious? You're asking for something for nothing. Why should a company like Adobe cut their own throat? It's nothing but good marketing sense. They're keeping their products in demand...

Besides, how is Adobe going to know what Canon is going to build into their cameras five years from now?

Its not Adobe its Canon. Canon won't support the old 5D.

You'd rather wait a week to get one online rather than go to your local walmart and spend $20? By the time you pay shipping for a cheap card reader online you'll pay at least $10. Doesn't really make sense, does it?

So you think it's normal that if you buy a new $2000 camera you also are obliged to buy $700 worth of software?

It's basic compatibility for a lot of spent money, not nothing. I understand that theyre two separate companies but they should figure their **** out.

Lurn 2 reed. I live in Europe so no walmart, just expensive camera shops.
Yes I'd rather spend 1,5 euro TOTAL and wait two weeks than spend 15euro tomorrow. Can I?

Get a card reader. Its faster and maybe easier than going directly from camera. I have two 5Ds and found all this out when I went to snow leopard. I spent hours on the phone with both Apple & Canon. Canon wont support the old 5D with the new software and that kinda sucks but I guess its progress. A $30 card reader is an easy cheap solution. You should probably have one anyway.

So does this mean that tethered shooting is also broken?

My Macbook Pro imports the photos through iPhoto from my 5D...I just got the MacBook a few weeks ago. It works just fine this way.

Should have bought a PC, oh wait no windows 7 support either. I hate the card reader as I dislike pulling the card out of the camera as I'm paranoid that it will bend the pins. But the card reader is at least twice as fast as using the camera to transfer images so it's worth the hassle.

I'm running Windows 7. Its just 64-bit that is lacking support.

The comments above say what does or doesn't work. But not all say what OS they are using

I have a 5D classic and am running windows 7.

I have latest versions of all Canon software

EOS utility works fine. Computer sees my camera and I can do tethered shooting. (Although I don't) ;)
Can also download photos using EOS Utility - but I dont.

Zoombrowser and all other Canon SW works fine.

I can connect to the computer it just will not recognize the camera. The utility is not compatible with snow leopard anyway thats what I was told by Canon.
