When I took experimental we had a lecture on high contrast printing. This image falls into that class. Interesting shapes and patterns.

True. That's probably as a result of the Topaz Denoise filter which has a smoothing effect on the image. I quite like the results it gives. The second image in this thread was produced in much the same way.
