Seriously, Jay...If you ever need a "backup shooter" for one of these trips, let me know! I'd love to have a day or two to learn some shooting tips from you and have the chance to capture some of these planes.

You're work is some of the absolute best on POTN, as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for sharing these with us!

Thank you for the very kind words. This particular trip to Nellis was actually in conjunction with the annual symposium put on by ISAP (external link). Membership is open to anyone who has a passion for aviation photography. Not all members are full-time aviation shooters nor are they even full-time photographers. All skill levels are welcome. Trust me when I tell you that I am a relatively small fish in a very large pond when it comes to the most notable members of ISAP. I did find however that even the most well-known guys/gals are more than happy to stop, chat, critique and offer suggestions and encouragement. There really aren't too many professional organizations where this is true.

Great timing on the first one. Love it.
All these are fantastic captures, Superb!

Thanks very much.

I was reading about ISAP on fredmiranda and I joined but there seems to be some glitch with getting my membership recognized so that I can log in to the members area of the website. I'm sure it has to do with that fact that 'everyone' was in Vegas! I'm already looking forward to next year, so that I can come out and participate.

You really should post over on fredmiranda. I say you'd easily be one of the top shooters posting over there and they've got some great ones.

Here's the 814 page thread!!! (external link) This is actually the second iteration of the thread. Have a look...

Looks like a fun and lively thread. I'm flattered that you think I'd make an impression but honestly, I'm not thrilled at the notion of paying $45 just to be able to post.

I'll have to think on that one...

The fee is for image upload, you could link to your zenfolio page for free. Image upload also allows you to post equipment for sale. Here or there, I'll still enjoy whatever you post.

Ah! Didn't realize you could hotlink instead. I'll have to go back and read the fine print better. My Bad...

Some have described it as sounding like the "Giant Zipper of Death!" I'm hoping to get a chance to visit the live fire area of the Goldwater Range west of Tucson. The AZ Pilots Association has outings down there a couple times a year and I jumped on the email list but haven't heard anything back yet. Guess I'd better go rattle their cage again.

Let me know if that happens. I'd gladly make the trip out for that opportunity.

EDIT: I just notice you said Arizona Pilot's Association, not AzAP... Oops.

AH! So that's what that t-shirt meant. There were maybe a half dozen or so guys wearing them and I didn't make the connection to that thread on FM. Thanks for the positive feedback and for clearing up a minor mystery for me. I wonder if that's how they went about arranging the unofficial road trip up to Creech AFB...? Maybe I need to go jump in that mix on FM (like I need another site to visit...)

I remember that thread from before I abandoned FM to come hang out here...

Don't Hate .. Participate! Hopefully they'll have the event in SD next year and we'll have AZ well represented.

Oh, that would be terrible. I'd just hate it if the symposium were in San Diego next year...
