Buying in Ebay from overseas?

Anyone done this? I've never bought anything from overseas via Ebay but I'm getting sick of waiting for a particular lens (Tokina 11-16) to become available locally. I could possibly buy one via Ebay from Hong Kong but I'm wondering about warranty.

Anyone bought a lens this way? How did it work out?

Yep,, I do it all the time.. I've bought my Sigma EX 50-150mm f/2.8, Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 and Canon EF 50mm f/1.4.. I've also bought a Canon EF 24-70 f/4 for a friend..

Some other larger items I've bought are my 50D, 430EXii Speedlite, Canon G11 (for my daughter), Canon IXUS 110is (for my youngest daughter), 2 Phottix battery grips..

For lenses and cameras I use this seller out of Hong Kong.. The service and price are brilliant..

That's good to know. Thanks. And you've used the same seller who has the Tokina 11-16 for sale. I'm really nervous about this, having never spent more than about $60 on DVDs so far - and those only locally. This is a huge jump for me - I've never even used Pay Pal before.

Of course, as soon as I click 'buy now', I'll get an email saying the long-awaited stocks have finally arrived onshore.

Don't stress (too much), go to a reputable seller and it's very unlikely you'll go wrong.

I bought the Tokina 11-16 from DWI, they are great. Iv'e ordered stuff from oz which have taken a lot longer to get to me.

I Ordered the Tokina on a Wednesday - orderd at 1PM! and got the lens on the Friday! from Hong Kong (DWI)

cost me AU$750 including delivery and insurance.

That's a good price. I bought one on Ebay (also from HK) but with insurance it came to $905. I'm not worried about the cost. I'm just happy to be finally (at long last) getting this lens. In fact, had I been at home on Thursday, I would have it now. Just have to be a bit patient for a little bit longer.

Awesome, I really like it though I havent had much chance to use it yet Will soon though.

The Fed Ex man is supposed to be coming back tomorrow. I'm not setting foot out of the house until he does. I don't want to drive a couple of hours across town to pick it up on Tuesday. That'll teach me to check the delivery address on Ebay when I buy something.

Definitely. I've bought from this seller numerous times. It's worth checking out his items in other currencies though. I end up saving quite a bit of money by purchasing in pounds rather than in USD because the EBay prices don't necessarily reflect the correct exchange rate differentials.

I'll bear that in mind if I buy from them again. Thanks for the heads up. I was more than happy with the price I got and the speed with which the lens was delivered was amazing.

Yeah,,they're pretty quick.. I ordered a Canon IXUS 110IS for my daughter for her birthday.. I ordered it on Saturday evening and it arrived on her doorstep in Australia Thursday morning..
