I've been using Rosco and Lee gels for around 2 years, and although they work great I have a small complaint about them. They are fragile and tend to shrink or get damaged rather quickly. If used solely on Speelites there is no major issues however when I get the larger ones to use with my Elinchrom strobes then putting them in and out of the holder pretty much ruins them after a few shoots.

I tried the Lumiquest FX (http://lumiquest.com/products/fx.htm (external link)) for using with my Speedlite and I really loved the gels that came with it. They are rigid and pretty sturdy. I would love to get some gels like this for my strobes (8 1/4" squares or larger). Anyone wants to chime in and post some links? I Googled for a bit and could not find anything like it.

Thanks!

Sounds like what you want are Lee Acrylic Panels. Personally though, I use gels day-in, day out with my Elinchroms and they're still pristine. Use velcro to attach them, gaffer tape will ruin them pretty quiclkly. If you must use tape, electrical tape does less damage.

If the'yre shrinking, I can only guess that you're either using the gels too close to the flashtube or overheating them by leaving the modelling lamp on too long. Go for high temperature/cine gels instead.

Use the regular gels with this gelholder, only $9.95 and it's rigid:

Aren't those Acrylic Panels too thick? I like the Lumiquest cause they were flexible and thin (0.5 to 1 mm) without being as fragile as the Rosco or Lee gels (which must be thinner than a sheet of paper..maybe 0.1 mm or less)...

As an alternative I was looking at:

Thanks Muftau but I want it for my strobes not the Speedlite (I already got the Lumiquest FX for that and is much better than that option you listed IMO).
