Yes, payment was promptly refunded (although I'd rather have the 5Dmii).

Sounds to me like he got a better offer and screwed you over.

I bet he was trying to scam some fast money. Then Paypal put a hold on the cash, they usually will for anything over $500, I sell on ebay alot soI know how it works. They put a hold and wont release it to you until 24 days have gone by or after the buyer leaves positive feedback. There probably was no camera. Then he found out the money was on hold and he wasn't going to get it after you realized it never came. I would count your blessings if I were you.

You know what? You are EXACTLY right. Didn't even look at it from that perspective! Good observation! Thanks for the helpful tip. Might help some us on down the road.

Since you liked it Adam / Anthony or whatever your name is ;), you reminded me I meant to post this one here too ... done with lush combo of this lens on 5D II

VERY VERY COOL SHOT! Damn, I have a lot of learning to do. :)

I've been so damn overwhelmed by my 7D and my lens, it's been frustrating to say the least. I gotta stop reading all these threads that are convincing me that I have to return my 70-200mm 2.8 IS II a few times until I find the perfect one (not even sure what a perfect one would be), or I have focusing issues with my 7D. Being a novice, I have to admit, coming from a T1i, to the 7D is a whole new world.

Anyway, here is a pic I took sitting in my office. Not that great, but I'll get there learning from all you experts! Its a bit blurry, but I was holding it in my hand.

Thanks for the kind words 'longterm ...

RE: camera shake ... I have taken hand held test shots with this lens at well under 1/10th sec (think I even have a couple I did at 1/6th or 1/5th) ... so learn to use and/or put some confidence in the IS, it really is amazing.
If you still find you get camera shake, then maybe have a think about how you are holding the camera/lens ... wedge your elbows in close to your body like a rifle shooter to get more leverage / stability.
EDIT: ... and when you shoot at apertures of ~f2.8, then remember the DOF is very shallow, so try using a single AF point to ensure your images are tack sharp on the point at which YOU actually want them to be.

BTW: I am not trying to brag or anything here about how steady my hands are, just trying to give you confidence to practice and use this lens hand held and at slower shutter speeds than you might otherwise think possible ... ;)

Thank you for the advise. I really appreciate it. I am all about constructive criticism. It's the only way I will get better and I never take stuff personal. I am just an anal bastard and want to make sure there is nothing wrong with the lens or camera. I'll try the same shot with a tripod and see how it comes out as well as take your advise on how to hold it more securely.

Thanks again!

Christian

Amazing clarity on those shots (great action too). Was this all natural light or were your using stobes?

Sigh...Amazon is teasing me with this in my goldbox yet again, and on the last day of rebates to boot.

... remember too that on a tripod, you should turn the IS off and use either a shutter release OR if you don't have one to hand, put it on 2 sec timer.

I'm not seeing it, but if it's better than $2069 shipped, you'd better grab it.

It wasn't in my gold box either, but I just checked the price.. $2,065.00 shipped from 17th st. photo (through amazon)..

I paid a lot more than that!

BTW.. 17th St. claims only 1 left!
