On the last day of every damn rebate period, I find myself agonizing over whether or not to buy this lens.

Don't fret. All of the lenses I have I had to wait until I could afford them. Keep taking photos and remember that you will appreciate the eventual purchase of this lens even more if you have to wait for it.

This one is on my list too but it's too much $ right now after getting my 7d and 17-55. Such great pics here.

I bet he was trying to scam some fast money. Then Paypal put a hold on the cash, they usually will for anything over $500, I sell on ebay alot soI know how it works. They put a hold and wont release it to you until 24 days have gone by or after the buyer leaves positive feedback. There probably was no camera. Then he found out the money was on hold and he wasn't going to get it after you realized it never came. I would count your blessings if I were you.

Thanks for the insight!

where?

Amazon has a personalized gold box, with daily deals on different items every day. The items listed are based on your purchase history, and the savings are usually 5% off the current Amazon price. That's where I see it...taunting me.

There's a thread on the subject in "Market Watch".

Never knew that. I won't lie, this lens is worth every penny. I sold my 135L to help fun the II and haven't looked back since :p

Does this help the taunting? :p

Lol. I just checked mint gold box, and your right. I have camera accessories in there taunting me. If the 2x III extender shows up in there I'm going to be in deep trouble. My girl still thinks I have the F/4 and has no idea I updated it after a week!!! (my daughter knows I upgraded and almost blew it when she said "wow that lens really is the BEAST". That's what she now officially calls it. :-) ).
