Wow, when did you order yours at Adorama? Mine is still pending. (ordered on 02/24/2010)

You should call and complain because I put my order in yesterday afternoon (2010-03-09) @ 1309 PST and they shipped it today.

B&H changed their status to in-stock this morning around 0900 PST.

Edited: I just checked Adorama's webpage and it has the 70-200 2.8 IS II as in-stock and they took off the message about "pre-order" and "high demand... first come first serve". I'm betting they have your lens packed and ready to ship.

Those images where wonderful at 200mm, my sigma 70-200 get good pictures at the other end but it would love something that's as sharp as that at 200mm

I'm going to wait for TDP to do their review and post comparison shots to decide if I should get one. I'd love to have 135 and 200 focal lengths with IS and 2.8 aperture.

Yes, for the end product (i.e. real world results) it's silly b/c I know I ALWAYS apply sharpening in post.

However for comparison to another lens, not so silly. I like to see the RAW ability of lenses with no sharpening.

OK I'll post some non-sharpened 100% crop comparisons...
The comparison is between the 200 2.8L and 100 2.8L IS. 5DII iso 800 1/180 f/2.8

With the 100mm shots the 70-200 is on the LEFT
With the 200mm shots the 70-200 is on the RIGHT I think the 200L has some movement blur, sorry.

Here are some shots with lots of detail to look at. One is 70mm the other 200mm. Both taken at 2.8 (light sharpening added).

NOTE: I added links to full sized ones (4MB approx each) to download below, both with and without sharpening).

You can "rightclick download" or click and look at the full sized jpegs here (about 4MB each):

Jonesy, we look forward to hearing your thoughts on the lens as it compares to the MK I. Thanks for the pics!

No one at my work likes having their photo taken. LOL

This guy doesn't mind:

Amazon is still not in stock and not shipping, so I was forced to buy through B&H and pay shipping. Hate that, but at least mine will be here tomorrow!

its definitively sharper then MKI. I'll upgrade to it when I'll need a second 70-200 for my B cam but unless you had your 70-200MKI for a long time I really dont see the point of making the switch. Especially if it does cost that $1000 more. If you don't own any of these then the decision is clear - go for the MKII. But as I said, I can't really see MKI owners rushing in to the stores to get the MKII.
