These are great shots! The focus is amazing. Would you mind telling me how you have focus setup? Are you using one focal point? What mode is AF in? I've recently been asked to shoot a few sporting events and as someone who's relatively new to this, I think I'm doing OK, but I'd like to get better. Thanks in advance!

One focus point, AI-servo mode, and burst

Somme times i´ set the tracking sensitivity, to fast or slow, depending on how many obstacles there are

@ rene .... amazing dog shots.

This does it for me folks... been watching this thread a while now and was in the state of mind that "Im considering this lens" to now "will be buying it when funds permit."

I am absolutely blown away by this lens.... Its so spectacular when you consider that its a zoom with advanced IS that covers 70-200mm with IQ on par or exceeding primes and and the AF is blistering fast. <<< Seems like win-win to me except the price, lol.

You know IMO this lens never ceases to amaze me and the blurring effects is pretty darn close to even the stellar Zeiss 100mpf2 ZE. Dont get me wrong i am a big Zeiss fan also, but i am at present considering purchasing the 100mp/f2ze or the Canon 100/f2.8 IS macro to have a lighter combo for the times i dont want to pack this heavy 70-200 MKII beast around.

In fact i would like to see back to back shots between these three lenses at f2.8 on the exact same focused subject but that test is hard to find.

Help me out ?

Regards, Ron ;)

I had the 100L IS Macro... and can tell you based on looking at the images in here and from what I had that the 100L Macro IS is probably a tad bit sharper and rest of the optics are probably within 99% of each other. Its just nature of the beast... Macro lenses are always blistering sharp... sometimes even too sharp for their own good...

As for the IS on that lens... it was amazing! Reason I sold that lens... well, first I found I never really did any macro shots  and second the AF for my personal liking hunted way too much and was slow.

Its probably not what your looking for in terms of a comparison but I thought I would through in my 2 cents.

I've been a member here for a few years and a frequent peek er at the images and advice on here. Sooo at long last I have bit the bullet and bought my first L lens. I also guess I should post my very first picture on here too. It is cropped slightly as I took this amidst a mad feeding frenzy of gulls (my mum was feeding them biscuits!) and had to crop them out. Anyhoo, it is hand held, wide open and at f2.8. I think the exif data will still be intact after photobucket has eaten my image. It isn't exactly an award winner, but it is naturally a picture of a duck :)
