Testing the 2X II at 400mm f5.6 1/500s ISO100. Cropped about 1/6 of the original image. Used the 1D mkIV, handheld.

Long story short....this is the only other lightning photo I got tonight. The "other" one, the original, was lost because I'm an idiot and deleted it. It was 1000x cooler and I may never forgive myself for being so stupid. Ugggh!

+1 I've done this twice and managed to recover. I searched POTN for recovering deleted images and downloaded whatever tool was recommended.

Don't worry I deleted an entire 4gb of files a few years ago and my wife nearly killed me. We were on a trip to South Africa and we spent a weekend at a camp for orphan girls and I deleted all of them by accidentally formatting the card, not sure my wife ever fully forgave me for that one, lol.
