I have thought about selling the 50L to buy the new 24-70 when the price drops. Then add the 85 1.2 later. I'm still undecided though... You? SmugMug

Yeah, I figured so. I've been eyeing a set of Elinchrom BX500s and a Vagabond Mini to do similar types of shots. Can't argue with those results!

No other processing other than the small watermark of my name on the corner during the export process via LR.) 2 sets of comparison photos. For both shots, I used the 100-400 first, and then the time that elapsed between shots was about how fast I could swap lenses. It seems to me that my 100-400 outperformed the 70-200 + 2x combo. But mine is but one sampling so I don't know whether you can form a solid conclusion with just one set of examples here. My 70-200 alone certainly outperforms the 100-400 shot at 200mm. Just some food for thought. Thanks Julian. Im not sure how powerful that light is.. but this was shot with an einstein 640ws strobe at almost full power with a 8.5inch high output reflector.. strobes are awesome for outdoor / overpowering the sun type shots.. i definitely recommend them! I only use my speedlites indoors because of their TTL functionality.. other than that strobes are the way to go! Even strobes can be used indoors, but what type of indoors that you shoot, because honestly, when i shoot my kids at home i use almost the strobes more over speedlights, if i am in a conference or meetup with many people around then i will use speedlites for sure, but for model photoshoot or architecture and interior design with portraiture included then i will never use another lights rather than strobes. I only use my speedlites indoors because of their TTL functionality.. other than that strobes are the way to go! It's rated 500w/s which I've heard is pretty good for overpowering the sun. It's about 10x stronger than a 600EX/580EX which is just crazy to me. It's the same price as a 600EX-RT too, which is also crazy to me. I know what you mean with the TTL functionality. It's really nice to use for quick shots (weddings, events, etc). I like using the STE3-RT with the 600EX-RT in my hand with a small softbox on it so I can point it anywhere I want without restriction. It's really nice, but I've come to learn you need both to do everything properly. It never stops! $$$$$$$$$

I meant more for indoor events.. where the lighting is constantly changing (clubs, dance floor, weddings) and its hard to use manual lighting.. TTL is extremely helpful there. Manav
