So, a question for those who have used both the MkI and MkII - is the new version THAT incredible? I'm coming up from the f/4 IS, mainly for the extra stop in low light (didn't know at the time that I'd become a natural-light junkie) and am still wondering if the Mk II would be worth the extra $500-600. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You should wait for the new MK III extenders. I have a feeling they'll be much improved over the MK II versions in regards to AF and IQ. :)

I am waiting for the x2 mkIII.

Has anyone else noticed the twist slack in the lens lock? My first trip out I found that when holding the lens with the tripod mount underneath in one hand and the grip of the 7D in the other, I found the lens keeps twisting in the mount. I was very worried about this to start, but then checked my other lenses and they all have this twist slack, it just seems more noticeable on the 70-200 II. My second trip out I rotated the collar round so that I was holding the round of the lens rather than the tripod mount and the twist slack was not noticeable.

Ian.

The slack is actually better on this lens than it was with my Sigma 70-200..

I really dislike the tripod mount and removed it altogether. Just seems to get in the way.

A couple from last Saturday. No TC was used. All taken with my 5DII.

I've used both. The f/2.8 MkII will give you the same performance of your f/4 but at f/2.8. The MkI won't.

I love this lens. The bokeh is great and really lets me capture football pictures in the evening or night under the lights.

Oh and let us not forget the 4-stop IS. ;)

That's just incredible. I'm guessing it was at the zoo? Through glass or a cage?

Just switched to Canon and received my 7D and this lens yesterday. Didn't get a chance to play with it much outside so decided to shoot one of my anime figures. All shot @ f/2.8. So far I'm loving it!

Congrats on your Figma "Black Rock Shooter" figure. Most of their figures are awesome! May I ask what focal length are those pics shot at?

I'm happy to say that I have the opportunity to own one. This lens is so great that it makes you forget about taking the 135 f/2L but at the cost of weight. My bag is quite heavy just to take this lens out. Of course the 135L is the king of IQ, but the 70-200 f/2.8L IS Mk.II is definitely the 2nd sharpest lens I ever used.

As a once popular POTN ritual, I took a shot of a duck. There are plenty of them and squirrels too at a local park as test subjects.

I only use DPP, so my pics may not appear as sharp as any of you (probably because of where I upload them too)

This is my first figma and I'm really liking it :) The photos were shot at 200mm, 190mm, and 200mm.

I see you're in SF too. I can't wait to hit up GGP and try some bird and squirrel shots :D I just ordered a 400mm f/5.6 too so hopefully the weather stays decent!
