I have the opportunity to buy a used 1Ds 2 with 60,000 actuation at around 2,200CDN, iS this a good deal ? Or i'm better to wait for a used 5D (I) at lower cost (around 1,200CDN) and similar image quality. The pro and con of both body.

Hello,

That might be on the upper end of the price range. (Or heck at that price maybe I should sell mine. With alot less shutter actuations, less than 25K.)

I would go after the 1DsII as it is soo much better of a camera body. Better battery, two card slots (CF & SD). I have both and I find that even with fun stuff I use the 1DsII more often.

Good Hunting.

I went from the 5D to the 1DsMKII. While the 5D is a really good camera and produces excellent images, the slow focus was something I couldn't get use to. The high ISO and sharpness is awesome and 12.8MP is enough for some cropping.

You probably know the advantages/disadvantages of both so unless you need all the features of the 1D, the 5D will serve you fine.

However keep in mind that you can share your batteries and has no learning curve if you go 1D.

I was disappointed with the ISO performance of the 1dsmkII at ISO 800 and above, where the 5d had a pretty good advantage. Otherwise the 1dsmkII beats the 5d in every other aspect aside from IQ, which are both pretty equal. Buy the 1dsmkII for the AF and fps, if you don't need those then the 5d is a great option.

AF on the 1DsII is a lot better then the 5Dc along with FPS, buffer size, dual card slots, 1D-series build and handling, and battery life. Noise is pretty similar between the 1DsII and 5Dc. If it were me, I'd go for a 1DsII.

the 1DsII gives better everything.

the noise reduction is still heavy but not as heavy as the 5D

for the noise reduction fanatics I'd suggest a 30D or a nikon D300 or even a D3s before Nikon will correct it (too much noise reduction may be good for the fanatics but they don't buy that kind of camera)

the 1DsII is a serious camera: 3,200 ISO are well balanced (between noise reduction and details) .

not for the noise reduction fanatics (for sure)

The battery share and one style body it's a big point for me and tempting, but that's $1,000.00 more than the 5D for equal? quality picture. How are the noise compared?

My main camera is a 1DS2 and previously it was a 5D. The noise is similar at a pixel level and given that you get 5 more megapixels with the 1DS2, the noise level on the bigger camera is better once the files are resized.

The noise is "cleaner" on the 1DS2 -- very fine and easily corrected. There is also NO banding in the shadows on the 1DS2. I could cause banding on the 5D just by pushing the RAWs a stop and a half or two... I can't do that with the 1DS2.

$2200 CDN is a pretty good price especially if it has decent batteries with it. I would pay $1800 to $2000 CDN if I were looking for another but I don't care so much about the body condition.

Thanks! finaly I make an offer at 1,800.00CDN+TXS, if it's accepted I jump on it. The body condition are very good. and the sound of the shutter are very different than the 1D2n. Sweet!
