Anniversary

I finally decided that I wanted some decent pictures of daughter and son-in-law. Have never used off camera flash before and finally had to go fully manual as the off camera cord for the 20D just isn't that long. Didn't have much time to set up and really play with setup either. The kids got into posing. I'd like to get props and redo wedding photos. All we had were rather funky snapshots. The kids like this one. I'll probably crop and do better adjusting when daughter is on semester break. She took some media production (TV studio type ) at one time.
I need more books and practice!
BTW - I always upload a 6" and 72 dpi

Not sure what you mean by full manual. If the flash was not in communication with the camera, how did you synchronize the shutter release and flash? In any event, it didn't quite work in my opinion. The subjects are overexposed. Additionally, the background is distracting. From the point of view of composition, you cut off part of her arm.

I agree with Joe..also, why are you so far away from them?

I look at your background and think crack den. Their pose seems compromised by imagined dangerous drugs paraphanalia. Apologies if it's your own decor.

Why is he in a feminine pose?

That's my daughter's sense of humor. That background should be black! It's a black sheet! And the whole picture is darker. I have no idea where that brown came from. It's black on the desktop,(which has a calibrated monitor) and black on the jpg on the laptop. How it got to be brown on posting, I have no idea. We were trying more formal poses 3/4 as I intend to mat them. The kids just got silly and I happened to hit the remote cord. And by manual - I couldn't use ETTL. The off camera cord for the Canon is just too short, so had to use a pc cord instead.
I've reattached it. The background looks black now on preview.
How do you test anything without a model? The flashes are instant so there's no way you can check. There's some stuff I'd like to try, but have no one to practice on. I don't have a flash meter so I have to go by guess and by golly.
