got the SX10 equipped with the 430EX today :D

That looks cool. did you buy a new 430EX or used one ? I'm keeping an eye on ebay for a used one.

I went with a used one. would highly recommend the 430EX if you've been considering it. great flash :)

nothing wrong with the 430EX II if you want the .7 seconds faster recycle and a metal hotshoe. the plastic hotshoe doesnt seem like much of an issue. got mine used looks fine, I dont foresee any issues with it. just be gentle like you should anyways. and the .7 seconds faster.. do I really need to elaborate on that? lol
