I am thinking about a 20d, battery grip, 50mm f/1.8, 18-55is, yn460 Mk. II flash, umbrella, mount for tripod (flash and umbrella) transmitter and receiver, of course extra battery and memory cards. I think thats about it, if you would like to add/remove anything or even give me a totally different list, I am open to ideas!

I'd get something like a Canon 420EX or 430EX flash instead of the yn460 Mk. II. That flash is a full manual flash and won't give you E-TTL flash if you mount it on the camera. With either the 420 or 430, you can have E-TTL and still use the flash in manual for off camera use.

Or a 550ex, which are similar in price to the 430ex but better. :)

You must remember I am on a budget, I thought the upgrade to the 30d wouldn't be worth the $100 or so, and I am not sure how much the canon flashes are....
a case will most definitely be there.
any suggestions?

I would not worry about a battery grip at this point.

okay.. As I look through the forums, I see them for $400 or so, what makes them so different from the 20d? I personally can't tell just reading reviews....

20d vs 30d?

I have a burning question...
What's the difference between these two camera's, I mean, when I read reviews they appear to be mostly the same (mp included) so I am curious as to what makes people say "pick the 30 over the 20d".
thanks,
Parker

The three main changes were;

Addition of spot metering to the 30D
The buffer is 30%.....useful for sports and alike
Larger LCD screen....purely a cosmetic improvement.

It is, you'd enjoy the bigger LCD. Or at least most people prefer it.

I wouldn't call a larger LCD screen "purely cosmetic"...it's easier to see stuff, after all.

Basically you get some extra features for not much more money, so why not.
