Hi all....my 8 year old Kodak decided to give up the ghost a few months ago, and I decided I wanted something a bit nicer. Eager to learn all the ins and outs of manual settings, etc., so I started shopping. I was considering jumping straight into DSLR, but the expense concerned me a little. I found what I thought I liked, a Nikon Coolpix L100, which seemed to have some nice features, but I hesitated after reading some stuff online. After going to the store to further investigate, the salesman turned me on to a different camera, which appeared to have even better specs, and reputation. So....long story short, I bought it. Ended up with the Canon SX20is, and so far am loving it. Also appears to have a pretty good reputation here as well. I just couldn't see the expense of a DSLR body, and a lens, when the SX has the 20x optical right out of the box.
Anyway, I look forward to learning as much as I can. I really want to get into shooting outdoor and wildlife pics, I am an avid deer hunter, and over the last few years the camera has gone with me as well. I am hoping to expand that, and go on camera only hunting trips, then I can "hunt" year-round!
Sorry for the long intro post, but I'm excited to have found these forums. I'm sure I'll have questions along the line....catch y'all later.
Jim
