Another wedding from this past fall... critiques welcome please! The groom is such a cool, relaxed guy. So relaxed to the point that he looks like he's falling asleep 24/7! hahaha. I suppose it would have looked unnatural/unreal to get him excited so we just went with it.

1. 40D/10-22 Wow, it was actually a cloudy day in Edmonton.

My biggest criticism of your work is this: it is highly unfair to the rest of us!

Serious, here's my .02:
1) another great "Flying Veil" shot! How do you do that?!?
2) love it. holding camera over your head again? I so want to try this at my first wedding, but afraid I won't get focus.
3) beautiful!
5) my fave! love love love
6) I love everything about this one EXCEPT that to me the groom looks a little awkward with the stretched out leg.

Thanks for sharing, Lloyd. As I have said before, thanks for using Canons and showing what can be done with them. The 40D never looked so good.

I love love love #6. The negative space seems to 'encircle' the bride and groom like they were made to be there. Did you do that on purpose?

for 2, this time I was on a bridge shooting downwards. When i shoot downwards holding the camera ovwrhead, chances are I'll be using the 10-22. As for 6, I guess I'll have to try and figure out a way to make this pose look better for the groom. I used to have him bend his leg a bit but that pulls the pants halfway up his calf which also looks funny. I'll think of something...

I really love the 85 1.8! I love the results i get from it! It is such a great lens. When I compared it with my 85L, the L had thinner dof but did not stand out in any other way, and was weaker in some respects. I decided i was fine in saving $1500 and STILL getting fabulous 85mm results without the L! (red rings do not excite me)

I love the 40D!!! It's my favourite cam in my bag! Such an amazing piece of machinery!

Well, I put the couple there on purpose but i wanted to show more of the creek behind them. Looking at it now, I feel that I should have shot at f/4 rather than 1.8. I'm glad my screwup looks good to you though! ;)

I've never liked the 85L -- hated the focus ring so much! -- and I don't notice that big of a difference between the 1.8 shots and the 1.2L shots. I can't seem to find my rhythm with that focal distance, but you make me want to get an 85 1.8 ;)

And your #2 is a shot that when I see you post it, I always think "dang it! I was supposed to try that Lloyd shot at my last wedding!" I love that one :)

I know it's the photographer -- not the location -- but Edmonton shots always look so natural and just breathtaking. Keep in mind, you're the only photographer from Edmonton that I see photos from on a regular basis. One of these days I have to get up there...

The only one I'm not feeling is the last one. Not entirely sure why. Nothing terrible -- it's still a great shot -- but I figured I'd at least give a LITTLE critique in my usual positive Lloyd review :p

I just bought a small fold out stool, since I'm so short and people need me to be taller for a good shot. But now, I may need a ladder. That above shot is very sweet. Love the eyes.
