two shots of a Porsche

Now, I am not intrinsically a fan of Porsche, as I drive a VW and a BMW...but I do appreciate art forms...and good wheels!

Photos taken with 1D mark 2 and 50mm F1.8 shot wide open.

Do you have any more of the car as a whole? These images are almost teasers, I mean any car with HRE's has to look alittle good.

Your map light is on in the first one Not a fan of the lens flare at the corner of the hood.

Good idea to shoot late, but I'd like #1 better if the background (& sideground) wasn't reflecting in the body. Use a tripod (f/4) to get the headlight sharp, see the links in my Sig and...

That is not lens flare. There is a lighthouse behind me.

None the less it doesn't look good there. Should be an easy clone out.

With the wheel pic use a higher f-stop to get more of the wheel in focus. Also roll the car forward or back to get a more attractive angle of the HRE center cap. With your crop don't cut off the center cap either. Its like taking a picture of the front of a Ferrari and having the edge of the frame run right through the middle of the prancing horse.

Using f/1.8 is giving you a razor thin depth of field that, in my opinion, is not really what you want in these pics. Now if you didn't have a tripod, I understand why you used 1.8, but if ya have one, just use a longer shutter duration next time to keep yourself at f/4 or higher like Frank mentioned.

The porsche is not mine-could not roll it forward(and the owner was on the cell with his girl)


also, the shot was SUPER impromptu. Im on the hunt for another sports car by the beach now!

If ya find one, ask the owner if they want to do a shoot if you find them. I know a lot of people who are into their cars and are more than happy to meet up if asked. Especially if its free and they get a copy of the pictures if you are just trying to practice. Don't be afraid to ask!

Haha. I have been VERY into cars for a long time(I am actually a moderator at c3cars but our website keeps getting attacked with malware), photography is only recent(weeks).

The only problem is in Santa Cruz, the sports car scene is small because the town is small, keep in mind I am coming from growing up in San Diego.

There is a stunning alpine white E92 M3 up here...I need to shoot that thing!
