I just got through it all and am totally amazed by the generosity of folks! I meant to subscribe to this thread back on page 3 but I didn't :( Only tonight am I catching up on all the news and honestly I'm feeling a little down... I had transferred some funds from my PayPal to my bank account and intentionally left $50 in there just in case a fund was set up. Well I missed out on the opportunity to help BucketMan out but I'm thrilled that he's gotten the lens he deserves! I'll have to look for another great way for the funds to create some karma elsewhere ;-)a

Great job Derek & all the POTNrs who contributed.
BucketMan, enjoying every mm of your new 70-200, you deserve it more than any person I know!

:lol::lol:

Trust me, it happened a lot faster than anyone could have imagined. I honestly thought that I'd have to shut down the donations after a couple of weeks and just send out a gift card to help cover the cost of a new MkI. I never thought in my widest dreams that we'd raise enough for even a refurbished MkI, not to mention a MkII!

Don't feel bad though. You're not the only one that missed out on the POTN Karma Train!

Welp! There you have it folks! A very happy ending to another POTN story .. ;)

Thank you BM for the extended invitation to all of us who may visit your area.
I would also like to extend to you, and invitation that if you're ever in Vegas,
please don't hesitate to look me up .. and quite honestly? I'm not sure I'd even ask
to borrow, let alone hold that lens .. lol! I'd be so afraid of dropping it .. :D

The images all look great .. Jensen is a cuuuuuuuutie .. and I LOVE the image
where she's laying on the packing lol! My cat loves to roll around in those things!

I'm sooo glad that this has worked out for you .. and the idea someone came up with,
about an image of the crew against an Engine or Ladder truck, would be awwesome! ;)

I look foward to reading many threads and seeing many more images from this lens!
Congrats BM .. you trully do deserve this beauty .. bw!

Tomi

Well, just got back from the police department and filing charges against the guy who sold me the lens.

Honestly, it doesn't look all that good. The case against him in NC will take anywhere from 6-7 months at least. Once that is over we can then pursue charges against him here in VA where the actual transaction occurred. Once that begins it could be anywhere from 3-9 months for that to end.

So, it most likely will be close to a year before I have the possibility of collecting restitution, if ANY at all. I respect the legal process and those whom carry it out, but man, is it slow.

Everything is taken care of on my end. The investigator here said he would give me updates as they come along, but to not really expect anything any time soon.

In the meantime, I am going to put it out of my mind and enjoy this awesome lens. :D

Discovered this thread yesterday and has skimmed through it now so I had no chance to contribute...

I do not believe in Karma but I believe in people being good and showing love to their fellow man. This thread has given me watery eyes and a warm feeling in my heart. This is incredible, not only that you were able to raise the money but to do it so quickly! Truly amazing! I will post something about this on my facebook wall, this story must be spread around the world.

BucketMan, your honesty is an inspiration and an example to be shared with others!

Amazing...

Yeah, don't hold your breath! I doubt you'll get anything, but at least you don't have to worry about it anymore.

We need some more shots from the new lens!

Great "grand opening" shots :-) Looks like I have a daughter who looks to be about the same age as your cute little one (6 mo?).

As for filing charges - at least now you know you have done your part, and whatever comes of it can be icing.

Im stoked for your new lens - enjoy that thing!

What a good thread. It's cool to know there is still genuine people out there. You for being honest and giving the lens back no problem, And all the guys on here who helped you out. The internet seems so anonymous that people don't always treat each other like that would if they were sitting in a room with them. This is a good change from that.

Unbelievable thread, I've NEVER seen anything like this! Truly honorable of Bucketman, the folks here on POTN AND Adorama.

I'm gonna clink a "cold one" for everyone next time I'm out as this will surely make for a great conversation with my mates.

Well Done and Congrats on the new lens.

Dang, Helen, that's pretty cool. I think you deserve part of the credit!

(Now you wanna tell us why you're up and online at 5:30 AM on a Sunday morning? :-D)

All I want is a 10-2000 f/0.5L with no distortion that weighs 100 grams, fits in my pocket, and costs $300. Is that too much to ask?
