Hi Guys,

My wife and I are going to Mazatlan April 10th. My question is regarding the safety of Mazatlan and whether I should be bringing my 50D or should I go and buy a decent P&S to bring? I have a 7 million Crumpler to 'disguise' that I am carrying a camera but looking for some feedback from anyone that may have been.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

we went last year. took my sill million dollar home that was holding my 40d, 17-40, and my 70-200. I think i had a few others in there too. We wondered for a few hours through neighborhoods and the waterfront, wasn't ever really concerned about the gear. Just used discretion on if i should be shooting specific subjects or not. was really happy that i took my equipment.
just my 2 cents.

I think I am going to take the camera. I was originally planning on taking my backpack full of gear like I did to Cuba but I think there is a large different in security between the two places. Another lens and maybe flash should do. I wanted to bring both my bodies and my cotton carrier to walk around with but I thought I would be just asking for it then.

Thanks for the reply!

Call your home owners insurance company (if you have it). I called mine and they said my camera gear was covered under my house against loss or theft. I recently took my gear to Cancun and I was worried more about leaving it in the hotel than taking it with me. Every room at our resort had safes so I could lockup the gear I wasnt using.
