1. Welcome.
2. Caps Lock: Please turn it off.
3. The picture:

The colors are kind of...lacking. The butterfly is missing it's color on the wings.

Shooting: A Canon 400D with the 18-55mm f/3.5 - 5.6 kit lens, a 70-300mm f/4 - 5.6 and a 35 - 105mm f/3.4 - 4.5 (The 70-300 and the 35-105 are currently residing with my mom, who also owns a 400D and a 18-55 kit lens).

CPL would've helped here to bring out the colors a bit more but it's not bad. Composition is a little plain but it looks like you nailed the focus.

Now it looks too saturated. :P

CPL = Circular Polarizer. It's a type of filter that is used to cut light reflections and haze. It enhances greens pretty well.

A CPL filter will bring out the colors in a pic particularly greens of grass and plants and blues of the sky. I like the crop you did but it's a bit too over saturated now. Just take it down a little bit and it should be good.

Here's a shot I took with no CPL and one with the CPL. Notice how much the clouds and sky pop compared to not using a CPL.

No CPL:

Thanks and nice choice. That's the same one I used for that pic on my Sigma. I honestly think it's the quickest way to improve an image like that. It actually surprised me the first time I used it and now I almost never take it off.

Thanks! The quickest way I learned was to set it to manual only and start shooting and looking at the pic and adjusting until I was happy with the overall image. It was really hard to understand everything at first but once I got the basics it just took off from there. I still have a TON to learn but I'm happy with my progress thus far. This place is awesome and has helped a lot too. What lenses do you have?

thats another thing i need to learn about lol.. lens's i just have an 18-55mm as thats which t2i kit i bought the 18-55mm kit but i will be looking into buying a new lens which will be suitable for taking distance shot's etc.. as i understand that mine is not for this purpose. i will be buying a new lens in may time as i am going to mexico for a fortnight mid april & funds are tight until after i return but this will be top of my list on my return. shame i didnt have one before as would have loved to have taken one with me. anyway i dont even really understand all the 18-55mm, 70-200mm business yet. so any advice would be great & i am now really starting to take interest in all aspects of photography hence why i have bought the t2i & sold the olympus e-420
