I have one I leave on may G1 all the time, and many others have appreciated its use on the Canon Forum at DPReview. You can find it as well as filters and close-up adapters at http://www.lensmateonline.com

The Canon lens adapter, when fitted with a UV filter, isn't long enough. The only way around it is to add a step-up ring as a spacer to avoid the two from touching each other.

My brother has a UV filter on his 35mm for protection so I thought this would be good for the G1 too. When the G1 was fully extended it touched the UV filter (barely) but it did touch and I didn't feel comfy with that kind of setup so I purchased a step-up ring for added length. Perhaps this wasn't the best way to go, especially now that I've just heard about the LensMate. I'm a novice so if this wasn't the best way to go, please let me know. Thanks!

Their customer service rocks! They had it out to me the same day -- and I got it a day later for only $4.50 shipping. It was packed VERY well.
