Has anyone had issues with Windows 7 and using a 1D MKII with it? I can't seem to get my camera to trigger the EOS utility(using Firewire), and it's not showing up in Windows 7 explorer, but going to Device Manager, it's in there. I installed the Win Vista Driver WIA for the MKII also.

Does anyone have any pointers? Am I missing some obvious? I don't have the original CD with this camera, so I'm stuck using programs that came with my 7D.

Thanks for any help,

Rick

Try to download the latest one on Canon which listed Win7 64-bit as the OS.

I just installed it on Win7 64-bit and it works on the MKIII but I don't have the firewire card installed for the 1DsMKII.

There is no driver available for the 1dm2 for 64bit OS's.. YOu must have at least 32bit xp for the drivers to work correctly.. I have tried many ways without success.. Even using win7 Xp virtual machine.

Gave up on my Win 7 64 laptop but my 1D Mark II works great on my Win XP 32 desktop. I can read the files (very slowly) using USB (1.1 from Mark II) on my Win 7 64 box but EOS utility does not work. The firewire works well on my XP box, file transfer is better and more importantly I can change the name and personal functions.

So the by the sound of it, I should find an XP box, and set all the information I'd like there, then just use a CF reader to pull that images off the camera on my Win7 box?

I am using the 32bit version of Win7 also.

Yeah, on the Canon USA site even for 32-bit Windows 7 there are no drivers for it so I don't think it works unfortunately. Looks like Vista 32-bit was the last version with a driver.

Use the compatibility mode I've used it with windows 7RC and now windows 7 upgrade and it works with my 1D Mark II on both my Desktops . I also have a 1Ds and the driver only went to windows XP and it also works in the compatibility mode. Good luck

Windows 7 64 bit is not compatible with the 1D mark II. I understand the win 7 32 bit version is, however. I do not plan to install win7/32.

I have run into this problem with my new computer which is win 7/64. To transfer files I now use the card reader supplied with my computer.

One thing I wish I had now is the remote shooting option in the EOS software which allowed me to control the camera from the computer, and have the image auto load for editing. I would like to run the camera in remote mode so that the photo would load right away into the computer through the firewire cable. If anyone has found a workaround for this I would appreciate it if you would please post it.

As previously stated, there are no drivers for the older 1D and 1Ds cameras for Win7 x64. The 32-bit Firewire drivers from Vista do work with Win7 x86. I tried and tried, but eventually fired up my old XP box to change the ownership info on my cameras.

Please add me to the list of desperate (and angry) but loyal Canon customers. I went to Windows 7 64 bit on my laptop, which I use for shooting on location with my 1DS MII, and was appalled to learn that Canon refuses to recognize the advances in computer technology and doesn't support 64 bit operating systems. As if they think that will help them sell cameras...I have ordered the EyeFi Pro card, which promises to be a work around, but I won't have remote control of the camera any longer.

I am on win 7 x64 home premium and cannot run the EOS utility for my 1D markII. However I was reading about Windows Virtual PC available if upgraded to W7x64Pro that can run an XP mode. The upgrade is currently $90 and the WVPC is a separate install. Anyone tried this and have feedback?

From another thread - looks like the Windows Virtual PC scenario works...

Hello
I have installed the eu290en file made for 1dmkiii. It works great with 1dmkii. Link: http://support-th.canon-asia.com …nts/TH/EN/0200116704.html (external link)
