It's been a good week to go to Zion. Got some snow fall around mid week which made some interesting shooting.

On a side note the crowds seem to be growing, this is the first week I've noticed a big increase in the number of people in the park. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing but more a sign that the isolated feeling is ready to pass.

-Wednesday started out a snowy mess but with some patience the sun started to shine and some blue skies decided to show face.

1. This creek was dried up by today( Friday.)

2. Spent a good hour or more at this fall.

3. This has got to be one of my favorite spots of the Virgin in the park. Lots of boulders and rapids.

-Thursday I was going to go back in the park and search for more waterfalls from the run off but my car decided to turn off on a side road to Grafton, I accepted and went with it. Pushed my little subaru as far as I felt comfortable up a muddy rutted hill and then gave it a park. Hiked up to a view point through the mud, scrambled up a boulder field, slip n slid through more mud all in a pair of low top chuck taylor's. Forgot my boots at home. Ooops! I'm definitely heading back to this area, too many comps too little time.

4. Overlooking Zion

-Friday I headed back out to the park to try and get some more of the falls from wednesday. Much much more visiters today compared to wednesday. When I got to the falls there was a peaceful couple and a family of 4 or so climbing around on the rocks, which was cool all except their little brat of a son( probably 12 yrs old or so.) He apparently was pissed to be there and was screaming about how he wanted to go home. Throwing a tissie fit like a little **** and chucking rocks as hard as he could at whatever he could hit. I was sure I was going to walk in front of one of his projectiles. All the while his parents didn't say a thing, whatever happened to the days when parents actually gave a damn about things like this? I would have gotten wooped or at least put in my place if I'd acted like that in public when I was a kid.
Anyway, I'm thinking I'll go back out to this spot tomorrow, if I can get to the top of the falls and find some pools I think they'll put off some good reflections of the peaks behind them at sunset as they really catch the fading light.

6. Pot of gold is in the pic below.

7. The light really put off some gold reflections in the middle of the falls.

8. That does it.

Thanks Martin!

-Edited first post and replace #8 with a different shot/comp, didn't realize how much I burnt out some of the foam in the other one.

These shots are so good, everything came together for you, and you do as others have said have an ee for composition.

Julian, you'd be happy to know all but #6 had some combo of GNDs used. :)
Thank you.

You're cookin', really nice series!

Spring break is probably responsible for the crowds.

Very pretty series, John. I love that park, especially after snow or rain.
