Can Canon Service "extend" the range of the in-camera adjustment? The manual mentions a Dioptric Adjustment Lens Eg sold separately. Anyone has got one?

Canon diopters are interchangeable. You can find them on their site or at large photo suppliers like B&H. The standard one is -1, and the adjustment is +/- 2 (so the standard diopter goes from -3 to +1).

I normally wear glasses, and with them on, I have no problem setting the 7D to see clearly through the viewfinder.
But without them, it doesn't work. So I added an Eg correction lens (same type as is used by the 1D Mark III) to shift the setting range a bit. Now I can dial in both with and without glasses, with the dioptric adjustment dial on the camera.

I have found the 7D to be very usable with eyeglasses.

Thanks Anders, I found the one you mention at the Adorama site. The adjustment in my 7D is now maxed to the + side. So I gather that a +1 or +2 Eg lens (like this one (external link)?) would do the trick. Am I right? Where did you get yours?

Since the camera's range is four diopters, you can just as well go with +2. You can dial back into the negative range if needed, to compensate. Better do that then end up not getting enough strength.

The main advantage I think for me is that when running around in the woods, trying to take photos of runners (orienteering), I usually get a bit sweaty, and then my glasses fog upp all over. Being able to not use them, but still see the viewfinder perfectly, is good. I did the same with my 40D.

Since we are both in Sweden, I gave details about where I bought it to you in a PM.

UPDATE:

I got the +2 diopters and now the adjustment wheel needs to be all the way to the other side! So Ithink that the range of adjustmanet is ± 2 diopters (not ±4 as suggested by the manual).

I have ordered a +1
